From September 2007 to June 2009, I wrote a bi-weekly column for Ming Pao (a Hong Kong newspaper) introducing high school students to English-language novels and non-fiction books for their School-based Assessment examination (SBA) in English. The challenge here was in finding books that would be interesting to older teens (between 16 and 18), that would be lead to good discussions or presentations in class and that had language that could be handled by second-language learners.
