You can use these short music compositions (between 10 and 60 seconds in length) for any non-commercial projects that you are working on (e.g., video, animation, presentations, etc.). Just provide a credit (Songs 1 to 14 should be credited to ‘music by longzijun’. If you use Song 15 or Song 26, however, it should be credited to Jessica Yip).
The fifteen songs in this Short Instrumental Themes series may also be used for free if you are monetizing the videos on YouTube or are part of the YouTube Red Partner program as long as attribution is given (music by longzijun). For more details, refer to the more detailed Terms of Use.
If you are looking for longer compositions, you can visit my free background music page: longzijun.wordpress.com/music.
Track 26. ‘Untitled’ by Jessica Yip (62 seconds)
This is an anime-inspired piano instrumental with a fast middle section. Note: If you use this song in one of your projects it should be credited as “Music: ‘Untitled by Jessica Yip (from longzijun.wordpress.com)”. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:

Track 25. Sonicide (20 – 36 seconds)
There are four different versions of this track. Each version is a different length. The last nine measures (the part with the drums are the same in each version and the cymbal crash always comes four seconds before the end):
- 36 seconds
- 30 seconds (this is the version in the video)
- 28 seconds
- 20 seconds
The song is based on an excerpt from my song Sonicidence (Track 28 in the Free Background Music series).

- Intro 18 (gentle & melodic) 0:10 & 0:09
- Intro 19 (bubbly synth) 0:07.5 & 0:07
- Intro 20 (aggressive: piano, guitar, war drums) 0:13 & 0:12
- Intro 21 (perky synth & percussion) 0:08
- Intro 22 (techno attack) 0:09 & 0:08

Track 16. Holly’s Theme: Reprise (60 Seconds)
A one-minute soundtrack that combines electronic and orchestral sounds. This is a kind of remix of the middle part of the solo piano song featured in the video. The 60-second version can be heard at 2:54 of the video. There is also a version without drums that can be downloaded. The MP3 and WAV file download links for all three versions are on this page:
Free Background Music Series: Collaborations (with full and short versions of Holly’s Theme)
Track 15. The Mercury Tale by Jessica Yip (53 Seconds)
A anime-inspired piano piece with a gentle melodic feel. Note: If you use this song in one of your projects it should be credited as “The Mercury Tale: Music by Jessica Yip (from longzijun.wordpress.com)”. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Short Piano Instrumentals by Jessica Yip
Tracks 13. Dramatic (17 Seconds) & 14. Mysterious (13 Seconds)
Track 13 is a dramatic theme with strings, choral vocals, harps and drums. The melody rises and then falls. Track 14 is has an electronic sound with different effects added to create a mysterious mood. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 12. Equinox (31 Seconds)
This a gentle groove (130 bpm) with a hints or reggae and jazz. It features piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums and therefore has less of an electronic feel to it. I think it would make a good intro theme for a TV show. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 10. Upbeat Jazz Intro (18 seconds)
There are 8 different arrangements of this jazz instrumental. It is in an old-fashioned jazz style, so is suitable if you are looking to establish a comedic or very upbeat mood.
Upbeat Jazz Intro Versions 1-4 (YouTube)
1. Guitar and tuba only
2. Piano, guitar, tuba and drums
3. Clarinet, trombone, saxophone, piano, tuba, drums
4. Female vocals (scat style), piano, guitar, tuba
The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Upbeat Jazz Intro Versions 5-8 (Vimeo)
5. Guitar, piano, tuba
6. Female vocals (scat style), piano, guitar, tuba, drums
7. Clarinet, trombone, saxophone, piano, tuba
8. Distorted vocals (electric guitar sound), piano, guitar, tuba, drums
The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 9. Dreamy Loop (6 seconds)
This is a six-second loop it can used in Vine videos or can be looped to create a longer track. As the name implies, the song has a gently, dreamy vibe to it. The instrumentation includes: acoustic guitar, bass, synthesizer and drums. If you are looping it, as is shown in the following sample video, make sure you use the wav or aif formats. If you convert them to mp3 files, they will no longer loop smoothly. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
6-second Loopable Theme: Dreamy
Track 8. Orchestral Sunset (13 seconds)
This is a dramatic intro will movie soundtrack influence and features synth-based strings, woodwinds, French horn and drums. There is an alternative version with no drums in case you find this one too brash. I like this drumless version best as the arrangement allows the French horn part to come through more clearly.
Version 2 (Without Drums)
The MP3 and WAV file download links for both versions are on this page:
Track 7. Soft & Hard (33 seconds)
This song comes in two parts, with the first part focusing on a soft electric piano (with rhythm coming shakers and keyboards) and the second part featuring rock guitar and drums. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 6. Short Instrumental Theme 06 (19-21 second)
I like this intro the best. It combines French horn melody or sweeping keyboard parts to produce a fresh but epic feel. There is a two second sound-effects intro, so the length of the song depends on how much of this you decide to keep). The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 5. Instrumental 05 (14 seconds)
This intro features minor key descending melody over a slow and soft kick-drum beat. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 4. Love & Time (24 seconds)
This is a minimalist piano piece with synth strings in the background. It i good for creating a melancholic or nostalgic mood. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 3. Just Be (40 seconds)
This is a light, pop-reggae song with a slightly lo-fi retro feel. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 2. Happy Virus (36 seconds)
This is a simple techno piece. It is fast and energetic. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Track 1. Intro 01 (12 seconds)
An electronic track with a clear melody. The MP3 and WAV file download links are on this page:
Most of the above compositions were created as soundtracks for video projects, animation or computer games. Most of the music was played using a Korg MicroX or Korg M50.

That one is retired. The YouTube video is online, but it is unlisted, so people shouldn’t be able to view it without a link (but sometimes YouTube shows unlisted videos anyways)

I be using these for our transitions in between tracks (as something other than silence as people in class are changing their weight bar set up for the next group of exercises.)
Thank you, so great. :)
Track 1 is perfect to my project, sadly I cant download from Box and I try from a lot of browsers :(
Seems there is some problem with the site. Here is a workaround until that is fixed: Go to the folder: https://app.box.com/s/f94ac3ad54b5edf86e0c and follow the instructions in this video (you need to select two files):

Some really nice stuff! I have also opened my entire catalog of songs for free download. check out https://www.freemusicpublicdomain.com/royalty-free-instrumental-music/ for some quality instrumentals.
How cool that you are offering this! It seems like it is so difficult to find decent music for something simple on YouTube. You are tremendously gracious and your music is so cool. Plus I love the way you laid out your page – so intuitive
🙏 Thank you…..

Hi , I am new here. Tried other sites but they got so many steps involved in clicks to finally download intros. Unlike yours here is a user -friendly where you see what one wanted, test it out with a single click. Then finally download it. End of story. Great work. Thumbs up you all.
